Step 5 - StoryBoarding
Take the content and functionality groups
that you have created and look back at your audience list, particularly
the section where you wrote down the top five or ten reasons they
will visit the site. Imagine that you are a visitor to your site
from one of these groups trying to accomplish one of the things
that the user will try to accomplish. Write down a short story describing
the process it will take based on your content and functionality
groupings. Repeat this task for each of the reasons and for each
group. Do the group names still seem to fit the content and functionality
within the groups? Do the pieces of content and functionality within
specific groups still seem to go together? If not, go back and rearrange
the groups and rename them if necessary. What you are trying to
accomplish here is to determine how the content and functionality
should be grouped so that everything is easy to find and easy to
accomplish on your site. Now, one all this organizing is done, look
back at the Goals defined in Step 1 and ask yourself: "Does
this address the reasons why I want to build the site?" Add
to the audience, content, functionality, and content groupings as
necessary.
